全ての知的活動の根底にあるg因子を発見したということで知能の二因子論の始まりとなる論文なわけだが、この時点ではまだg因子という言葉は使っていない。結論部では次のような書き方をしている。

The above and other analogous observed facts indicate that all branches of intellectual activity have in common one fundamental function (or group of functions), whereas the remaining or specific elements of the activity seem in every case to be wholly different from that in all the other. (p.284)
